What is cash-based home physical therapy?
Cash-based physical therapy means you pay directly for your care instead of using insurance. This allows for more 1:1 care and flexible scheduling without insurance restrictions.
All sessions can take place in your home or virtually so you receive treatment in the environment where you actually move, walk, and live.
How does home physical therapy work?
Your first visit includes a full evaluation of your movement, strength, balance, and goals.
From there we create a personalized treatment plan and work together using a combination of:
Bodyweight/calisthenics-based exercises
Resistance bands
Dumbbells or simple weights
Balance and mobility training
Functional movement practice (stairs, transfers, walking, etc.)
Do I need special equipment in my home?
No. Most rehabilitation can be done with minimal equipment. Many effective exercises use calisthenics, resistance bands, weights, and movements that incorporate your home environment such as chairs, stairs, and counters.
We have the option of using a home Tonal machine if you are interested in sessions that incorporate cable-column style strength training. This can be useful for individuals who want a more structured strength program as part of their rehabilitation.
If your condition requires higher-level equipment or a full clinic setting, I’m always happy to refer you to a trusted outpatient clinic that offers that environment.
What conditions can you treat at home?
Home physical therapy can help with many conditions, including:
Balance and fall prevention
Recovery after surgery
Joint pain (hip, knee, shoulder, back)
Strength and mobility limitations
Neurologic conditions
Difficulty walking or getting around the home
Who is home physical therapy best for?
Home PT can be especially helpful for:
People who have difficulty traveling to a clinic
Older adults wanting to stay active and independent
People recovering from surgery
Anyone who prefers one-on-one personalized care
How long are sessions?
Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes, allowing time for:
Hands-on assessment
Guided exercise
Movement coaching
Education and home program updates
Do you take insurance?
This is a cash-based service, meaning payment is made at the time of the visit.
Some patients may be able to submit receipts to their insurance for potential reimbursement, depending on their plan.
